How it works

Four steps, and you can stop at any of them

  1. Tell us what's going on

Six short questions. No account, and nothing stored until you ask.

  2. See who fits

Matched on what they treat, how they work, your language and budget.

  3. Have a free first call

Most practitioners offer 15 minutes free, so you can see if it feels right.

  4. Book when you're ready

Pick a time that suits. Cancel or change it up to 48 hours before.

Why choose us

We check, so you don't have to

Anyone can call themselves a counsellor in the UK. The title isn't protected. That's exactly why the checking matters.

  • Registration verified at source

We check the BACP, UKCP, NCPS and HCPC registers directly — not a badge someone uploaded — and re-check every year.

  • Insurance confirmed

Current professional indemnity cover, with the expiry date shown on every profile.

  • Fees stated up front

Every price appears before you make contact. We take no commission, so nothing is marked up.

  • Your search stays yours

No account needed to browse, no marketing emails, and your details never reach a therapist you haven't chosen.

Not sure where to start? Tell us, and we'll point you.

Send this and a member of our team reads it, not a bot. We'll suggest the type of support that fits and two or three practitioners worth looking at. If the right answer is your GP or an NHS service, we'll say that instead.

This form isn't monitored around the clock

If you're at risk right now, call 999, or Samaritans on 116 123, free at any time of day or night.

We reply within one working day. Your message is stored encrypted and never shared with a practitioner you haven’t chosen.

Before you start

The questions people actually ask

Will my partner know I've looked at this?

Not unless you tell them. We don't email, text or post anything without you asking first. If you're worried about someone seeing your history, use your browser's private mode. And if you're not safe at home, call the National Domestic Abuse Helpline on 0808 2000 247.

Do we both have to come?

No. Plenty of people start relationship counselling alone, either because their partner isn't ready or because the work is theirs to do. Many therapists here see individuals about a relationship.

How do you check the therapists?

We verify registration directly with the accrediting body (BACP, UKCP, NCPS, or HCPC for physiotherapists), and confirm current professional indemnity insurance. We re-check annually, and if a registration lapses the profile comes down.

What does it cost?

Sessions run from £50 to £140, set by each therapist and shown before you book. Some hold reduced-fee places, so filter by price to find them. We add no booking fee.

Is this available on the NHS?

No, everyone here is in private practice. If cost is the barrier, you can self-refer to NHS Talking Therapies in England without going through your GP, and it's free.
